QTCON (Q & T for Queer & Trans; pronounced “cutie” because we are) celebrates queer & trans BIPOC fans and creatives through a comic-con format since 2019.

As a narrative change and community-building organization, we believe in the power of fictional stories to help us understand identity and our relationships to ourselves, each other, and the world. Comics, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and gaming are powerful tools that can abstract or reflect on the ways we live.

They can help guide us to better futures, provide mental health escape, and be tools of art and creation that accompany us through life.

QTCON 805! is right around the corner! Get ready, Santa Barbara.

QTCON is coming to the 805! Join us on Saturday, February 17th, from 12pm to 5pm in Downtown Santa Barbara as we bring queer & trans fandoms together for an afternoon of connection, creation, and joy on California’s Central Coast! This is a FREE event, but you are welcome to donate any amount to help us continue to create the spaces our communities deserve.

QTCON WeHo!

For Pride Month in 2023, we brought a smaller, more intimate QTCON to Micky’s in West Hollywood to give our community in SoCal a taste of what this event is all about.

Four drag cosplayers gave our full house a perfect show of creativity, fandom, and queerness. It was a happy hour of community building through art and the stories we know and love.

Though the event was smaller, we promised our community we would continue to bring QTCON to our West Coast community — for us, by us.

QTCON Pride!

After a hiatus, we brought QTCON! back in June 2022, this time creating our largest event ever at SOMArts in the SoMa neighborhood of San Francisco.

We worked with Good VBZ to create the mood: we had a popup soul food kitchen outside; three of the Bay Area’s finest DJs inside; three in-person panel talks; two virtual panel talks on Gather; a full slate of creatives and vendors in our Artist Alley; and a drag cosplay superteam giving us an hour-long show.

Hundreds of community members joined us for this BIPOC-centric queer event, and we promised to bring it all back for more in the coming year.

QTCON 2019!

The very first QTCON! took place in the Castro, San Francisco in march 2019, in partnership with the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. We had a packed house on the third floor of the Foundation’s Strut center for arts, community, and testing & treatment.

An all-star panel from local artists to those with major publishers — including Marvel Comics — helped the audience understand the business, the creative process, and the intersection of comics with our identities as queer & trans BIPOC.

And yes, we did bring in a giant order of Popeye’s for the talk, because food is part of how we create every event.
