Ways to Participate
Display a Pride Flag during Pride & Joy weekend

It is simple and yet so very meaningful to LGBTQ+ people to hang a Pride Flag outside of your business, in a visible window, or at your entrance. Decals and displays are also welcome. It signals allyship, safety, and support. The more businesses that participate, the more joy we can create from that simple action. Here are some types of flags you might consider, and their history, via TeenVogue and the Human Rights Campaign.

Offer a special item or special time to celebrate Pride & Joy

For restaurants, retailers, tasting rooms, and more, this is an option that can help drive interest from local attendees and visitors from across the state. Some may create a drink special or menu items. You could even create a special “Pride & Joy Happy Hour” on Friday, October 6th.

Note: We have our own signature drink of Tito’s or higher quality vodka, pomegranate or cranberry juice, a splash of ginger ale, and a fresh lime — we call it, “The Teddy Bear.”

Feeling ambitious? Create your own programming!

For those with spaces and locations, you might consider hosting a panel, poetry reading, live music, demonstrations, workouts, or even a quiet space for folks to sit and decompress amid the activity. Host an art space, a talk space, or a healing and mental health space. Collect resources for donation to LGBTQ+ people in need.
